2015 Central Iowa Heart Walk

CDS Global provided apples and sponsored a scavenger hunt for all the Heart Walk participants.

On June 13, CDS Global sponsored the 2015 Central Iowa Heart Walk, a 5K in downtown Des Moines that raised over $400,000 to fund the mission of the American Heart Association. With over 3,500 financial supporters and nearly 5,000 walkers, the 2015 Central Iowa Heart Walk is sure to impact the lives of many fighting heart disease and stroke.

The walk was kicked off by a warm welcome from host sponsor and Heart Walk Chair, Steve Lacy, President and CEO of Meredith Corporation. It is always great to see familiar faces leading events downtown, as Mr. Lacy is also a CDS Global client and member of our Management Advisory Board. After Mr. Lacy’s welcome, nearly 5,000 walkers took the streets of Des Moines by storm showing strong support for such a life-saving cause.

As a sponsor of the event, CDS Global was on prominent display across from the announcement stage where the walk kicked off. To support the heart-healthy theme and offer walkers a bit of an early morning snack, CDS Global offered complimentary apples to those who stopped by our booth. We also had the opportunity to make the walk more of an adventure by sponsoring a scavenger hunt throughout the event. As walkers made their way through the route, they sought out the location of photos provided to them for a chance to win a Fitbit!

Looking back at this year’s efforts, our campaign has been a success. We kicked off our campaign with a t-shirt design fashion show and even hosted an event at a local brewery to raffle great prizes in support of the cause. Fundraising results will be tabulated through the end of this month, so there’s still time to make a donation that will fund research to help save the lives of many individuals throughout the state of Iowa. To those who have already made a donation, thank you for supporting the American Heart Association, who funds life-saving research programs throughout the country.
